WHAT IS HERNIA?
Our bones and muscles protect our internal organs. Muscles work as a cushion by absorbing shock and preventing our organs from friction. Hernia occurs when an internal organ protrudes through the weak spot or hole in the muscles and tissues. Thus, Hernia is the protrusion of internal organs through the muscle walls and tissues that contain it.
CAUSES OF HERNIA
The most common reason for developing Hernia is weakened or damaged muscles.
Some of the common causes of Hernia may be:
- Past surgery or injury
- Heavy weight lifting or exercise

- Aging
- Pregnancy
- Fluid in the abdomen
- Constipation
- Heredity or family history

IMPACT OF HERNIA
Hernias can impact normal living by causing pain and discomfort in the affected area. The other symptoms associated with hernia, as discussed above, can also impact day-to-day living and interfere with routine activities. Untreated hernia can lead to developing other health problems too. Some types of Hernias can be life threatening. Hence, it is advisable to visit a doctor if you see any symptom.
